Thanks to our generous challenge donors, all new Annual Fund recurring gifts set up October 30 through December 31 qualify for a challenge match. Why the Academy?

The Academy of the Sacred Heart is an independent Catholic school open to 3-year-old through 8th grade children of all faiths. Our program offers students the opportunity to learn and grow in a safe and happy environment, with a focus on building strong academic skills while fostering independent learning and communication. Curriculum highlights include: two Science labs, a Makerspace, 1:1 computing, French and Spanish, daily Physical Education, and recognized art, music and athletic programs.

Founded in 1818 by St. Philippine Duchesne, the Academy was the first of many Sacred Heart schools established in the United States. Our mission is to educate and inspire the heart and mind of each child to become a courageous and confident leader who knows and loves God, and who reveals that love by serving others. Our graduates are young men and women well prepared for the challenges of high school, college, and beyond.

Kansas City Alum Gathering

November 7, 2024

We are excited to connect with Academy alums in the Kansas City area on Saturday, Nov. 16! Join Tim Horner, Head of School, and Sharon Mitsler, Director of Alumni, for some Sacred Heart camaraderie and connect with other alums in Kansas City. Appetizers will be provided.

Fine motor development is important in the early years and Sacred Heart educators know how to make it fun and engaging. Our faculty share some ideas to help little ones.  These easy activities are fun to sneak in some practice!

A fantASHtic Country Fair

October 14, 2024

From games and inflatables to tasty food and beverages, a talent show, Farmer’s Market, petting zoo, balloon artist and magician and more, the day was wonderful in every way! At the close of the day, the Country Fair Squares winner was drawn — Congratulations to Theresa Peterson who received a check for $8,550!

We had a fantASHtic time at our first Philippine’s Playgroup on Tuesday. We welcomed 10 little ones and they enjoyed new toys and made friends. Plus, Ninja, the turtle was a hit!

This week, music teacher Mrs. Liz Foor shares her gratitude for veterans and for the Academy community that supports her family. Along with Mrs. Alarcon’s Fourth Class, she is planning a special Veterans Day Assembly on Monday, November 11. All are welcome!

Veterans Day is a time to recognize and honor all those who have served in the U.S. Military, both the living and the fallen. My family is fortunate to have the opportunity to honor our own hero every day—Sergeant Major Josh Foor, who has been serving in the Army for 18 years and is still serving.

For those of you who are new to the Academy, I had the privilege of teaching here during the 2021 and 2022 school years. Our daughter, Gabby, also spent her time as a Little Acorn and Pre-Primary student. After we were relocated to Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas for my husband’s schooling, we were thrilled when the opportunity to return arose. As a family, we couldn’t be happier to be back. The connections we’ve made at the Academy, the support we’ve received, and the sense of community are what I cherish most.
